Training Needs Analysis

Training is a performance intervention that addresses a particular performance issue, namely the lack of skill and knowledge. We conduct a series of analyses to produce the data we need to build training that is job-based and relevant, rather than generic and somewhat relevant. The
data also enables us to determine the core content applicable to all users, and what content is specific to targeted user groups.
However, we find that training is rarely the entire performance solution. As part of our process,
we also conduct a Performance Analysis to identify other possible issues such as performance standards not being known, lack of positive consequences for expected performance, task interference, etc. For training to be successful, other existing performance issues must be addressed and integrated into the overall solution.
