Case Study: Crane Operator Certification and Licensing
Client: B.C. Association for Crane Safety, 2009 - 13
Project: Crane Operator Certification and Licensing
Developed and maintain seven apprenticeable trades specifically for operators of different sizes and configurations of cranes. Conducted wide-ranging consultations with representatives of the industry including employers, labour organizations, industry associations and WorkSafeBC to establish a consensus as the basis for documenting trade certification standards. Developed, in consultation with the industry and regulators, five additional certified occupational standards for the operators of smaller, truck-based cranes. These are established and regulated through a licensing system supported by WorkSafeBC.
