Jim Tallman, President
Jim Tallman has been managing and developing
performance improvement projects since 1979. He has worked in technical
and business training projects in many sectors over the years including:
telecommunications, logistics, pulp and paper, mining, financial services,
pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and power utilities.
In the late 1980s Jim developed the Operator Training System which is
now widely used by industry for equipment operator training in Canada
and internationally. This system has been used by organizations such as
B.C. Hydro, Edmonton Power, and the B.C. Maritime Employers Association,
as well as mines, pulp mills and manufacturing companies.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia (1970),
and taught Instructional Design at Simon Fraser University for four years.
Recent projects include:
- Consultant for the review and technical update of five trades –
Machinist, Millwright, Steamfitter / Pipefitter, Tool and Die Maker, and
Metal Fabricator – for the Resource Training Organization of BC
- Consultant and Developer for the development
of documentation and learning materials for the Tower Crane Operator trade
in BC
- Developing of performance support systems for enterprise and billing software
users, sales teams, and customer service representatives
- Process mapping for power utilities and pharmaceutical companies
- Consultant for the development of an in-depth management curriculum for
front-line medical professionals newly appointed to management positions
in the health care system
- Developing a simplified knowledge and skill transfer, enabling companies
to transfer tacit knowledge and skills from experienced to newer workers
in a step by step process
- Developing an operator training program for assembly line workers in concert
with their existing LEAN processes
